How to Buy Physical Silver: Coins, Bars & Rounds

A US buyer’s guide to physical silver: compare coins, bars, and rounds, calculate cost per ounce, and review payment, storage, and resale risks.

Choose a product by fine silver weight and total cost, not its shape alone. Compare coins, bars, and rounds at your intended quantity, then review payment, delivery, and cancellation terms before placing an order.

What kind of silver can I buy?

Physical silver includes government-issued bullion coins, bars, and privately minted rounds. Buying physical metal is different from buying a silver fund or mining stock: you receive a tangible item and must arrange its storage. This store sells physical bullion, not securities.

Should I start with coins, rounds, or bars?

One-ounce units let you divide a holding into smaller items. Larger bars combine more metal in each piece. Coins, rounds, and bars can carry different premiums; compare current prices instead of assuming one format is always cheapest. The best fit depends on your budget, storage space, and preferred unit size.

How do I compare the price per ounce?

Divide each item’s price by its fine troy-ounce content. For an illustrative example, a 10 fine-ounce bar priced at $350 costs $35 per fine ounce before tax and shipping. This example is arithmetic, not a live price or offer. Compare the same quantity tier and include all order charges.

What does .999 fine silver mean?

A .999 purity means 99.9% silver. Check fine weight separately from purity, as well as the listing’s condition, refiner or mint, and packaging. A troy ounce is 31.1034768 grams; it is not the ordinary ounce used for household goods.

What should I check before paying?

Review the exact item, quantity, final order total, payment deadline, delivery details, and cancellation terms. Wire, ACH, and check are the current options here; cards are not currently available. A placed order is binding and shipment follows cleared payment. Do not send payment using unexpected instructions without verifying them.

Can I sell my silver later?

A future buyer’s offer can differ from both the spot price and your original retail price. Fees and the buy/sell spread can create a loss even if spot has not changed. Our Sell to Us page accepts inquiries only; it is not a guaranteed buyback or automated settlement service.
